Happy parentsJoining our Finkley FamilyThe very best way to get a feel for how things work at one of our Finkleynurseries is to come and visit us and see for yourself first-hand. We’ll show youround, take you through everything you need to know, answer all your questionsand we’ll use this time to talk about anything specific relating to your child.Before your child starts with us, we’ll arrange some settling in sessions so youfeel more comfortable leaving them to play with us.Our valuesWe know that the combination of happy children, happy parents and happy staffis a winning formula and we achieve it by encouraging everyone to be helpful,kind, caring and respectful.Your child’s keyworkerWhen you join, we’ll spend time with you so we can understand the individualneeds of your child. We’ll assign a keyworker who will work closely with yourfamily and your child to fully understand how we can best support them whenthey are with us. Your child’s keyworker will promote their learning using nextsteps to encourage and develop each important stage of learning.Communication with youWe feel communication with you and all the families whose children we care foris a vital part of our Finkley family, and we like to really get to know you. We hosta variety of events throughout the year for families, such as an annual sports dayevent, Christmas nativity and twice yearly parents evenings. These events arekey in getting to know our families and making sure we can support you in thebest way possible. It’s also a great opportunity for all our families to meet, chat,and support each other. We have an open door policy and are always available.Drop off and pick upYou can speak to nursery staff in the mornings and afternoons when you dropoff and pick up your child. If you want to talk through something in detail or inprivate, it’s worth letting us know in advance so we can make sure we have theright people available to chat at what can be a busy time with people comingand going.Your child’s learning journalWe’ll keep you informed of your child’s achievements daily using Tapestry(available online or as an app) which is really simple to use. We’ll share everythingthat your child gets up to with diary entries, pictures and videos.Early Years Foundation StageAs with every Ofsted-registered early years childcare provider, we followthe Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) that set standards for learning anddevelopment of children to the age of five. We set our own very high standardsin providing daily activities that encourage children to be active, confident andindependent learners who are self-motivated to do their best so that they workco-operatively together developing excellent social skills. If you’d like to knowmore about EYFS, we can give you details.You can make comments and add media of your own should you wish to shareanything your child does at home. It’s a permanent record of your child’s journeyas content can be saved and downloaded. You can use Tapestry to communicatedirectly with your child’s keyworker, which helps build a two-way partnershipbetween us and you, as well as any other important member of your child’s life,for example, grandparents or your childminder.Special Educational Needs (SEN)If you are aware of any specific needs your child has when they join us, we’ll workin partnership with you and other providers to give continuity of care and we’lladhere to the Special Educational Needs Code Of Practice. We have a dedicatedSpecial Educational Needs Co-ordinator who will monitor and adapt activities tosuit your child’s needs.11
