Malia, a Battle Creek native, is a Wayne State
University graduate with a BFA in graphic
design who also studied graphic design at
College for Creative Studies. “As an avid
animal lover who has had many companions
from the local shelters over the years, when
I saw this FUNdraiser come across my
newsfeed, I knew I had to participate. The
shelters have given me some of my best
friends and this opportunity to give back meant
a lot. After learning that Baxter was originally
from the HSSCM shelter, it made this piece
even more meaningful to me.”
