2022 Pet Portrait Catalog - Flipbook - Page 2
HSSCM hosted a Pet Portrait FUNdraiser in the month of September 2022. Individuals
paid $30 and submitted a photo of their pet. Volunteer artists created a custom piece of
art representing the pet. In October, the public voted on their favorite pet portrait and the
winner was Kayla Aube, who painted dog Scout. Greatest thanks to all of the artists who
generously donated their time and artistic skills to help the cats and dogs in our Humane
Society shelter. Your kindness touches many lives!

“I’ve always been been told I was gifted in art, and I’m excited to use this passion in a
way that can help the animals in need in the community. Animals, especially cats, are my
favorite thing in the planet, and they deserve every kindness there is.
Scout is a beautiful girl who is missed dearly by her family, and I felt something whimsical
about her. I decided to use the pink from her collar to add in some flowers and petals
blowing in the wind. I hope that her owners can find peace knowing that she is with her
mom now, and everytime the wind blows they remember her nose up taking in the scents.
It was an honor to catch Scout’s likeness, she really is the best girl in the world.
This 8x10 portrait was done on Strathmore colored pencil paper, using Prismacolor
pencils.”
