North Central Florida “Soaring with Advocacy”, Greater Orlando “MAGICAL”, Tampa
“New Horizons”, Polk County Self-Advocates Alliance, Fort Myers “Voices Heard”,
Martin/St. Lucie Counties “Stand Up for Independence (SUFI)”, Palm Beach County “SelfAdvocates for an Independent Life (SAIL)”, Pembroke Pines “Abilities Venti”,
Broward/North and South Dade Chapters “People First of South Florida”.
Ø Breaking Barriers Training Academy
§ “Florida Self-Advocates Network'D (FL SAND) created the Breaking Barriers
Training Academy in 2020 to provide training to self-advocates, parents,
providers, and other disability stakeholders in the areas of self-determination,
self-advocacy, disability sensitivity, and other topics. Breaking Barriers Training
Academy is unique in that a majority of its offerings are developed and
delivered by self-advocates.”
Ø Become a FL SAND Fellow
§ “The FL SAND Fellows is an immersive training program for experienced selfadvocate leaders committed to further development of critical thinking,
leadership, and administrative skills. In addition to training, Fellows’
assignments will range from providing technical assistance to the FL SAND board
of directors and network of local self-advocacy groups, to developing and
delivering training on self-advocacy-related topics through FL SAND’s Breaking
Barriers Training Academy.”

Mailman Center for Child Development Advisory Council (University of Miami)
Ø “The Mailman Center is supported by federal and state grants and is recognized as a
Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service
(UCEDD). It is also the only Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND)
training program in the state of Florida. Comprised of Clinical Faculty, Advisory Council,
Community Members, and Interprofessional Collaborative Leads, the Mailman Center
strives to provide exemplary interprofessional clinical services, training, research, and
community engagement.”
