Issue 44 winter 24 - Journal - Page 79
Our works are based upon a close relationship with
clients, and I greatly believe in taking Time, Understanding the building and then forming a Workable Approach,
for client and structure. Majority of our works are reversing the post war late 20th Century love of cement, its cure
all ills presumption and returning the property to its intended skin,, I am sure you can hear the building breath
a sign of relief as tons of cement are removed from the
external fabric.
Firstly. CASE 1. Ancient House.
4 years programme that took us into Covid years.
Described as late 17th Century, this frontage was a
statement, heavy relief panelled borders provide a formal
appearance to the street frontage where we undertook a
4 year rolling summer programme of works. In the final
year had the pleasure of working upon the two central
cartouches removing the cement repairs and layers of
impervious paints and plastic coatings. We were able to
salvage nearly 30% of one and 50% of the other.

Case 2. Benhall.
All detail was copied from the previous failing render,
Cartouches to the right hand side of the front elevation
and upper section to the central design were partially
salvaged and restored, and then new detail applied to
match previous failing designs. The clients added a couple
motifs, Rose and Rook, to represent their own input to
the appearance.
