Somek & Associates (S&A) is an Expert Witness Consultancy and has been proudly serving the legal
profession, both Defendants and Claimants, for over 25 years. As one of the largest providers of expert
witnesses in the UK, S&A delivers highly professional trained experts in a range of health professions:
Occupational Therapy, Care experts, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Nursing,
Midwifery, and other key health professions. All of our experts continue to practice clinically in the area
in which they profess to be an expert.
Jessica Thurston, Managing Director, is a highly
experienced Occupational Therapy & Care Expert
Witness, and Elias Omar, Head of Medico-Legal
Operations, has a background as a Personal Injury Solicitor. These individual, but complimentary skill sets of
both expert and lawyer, means that S&A is best placed
to ensure the needs of experts and solicitors are met.
We have specialist teams dedicated to every part of the
cases’ life cycle. Many of our staff are expert witnesses
and practicing clinicians, meaning there is always
someone available to assist the solicitor in identifying
the correct expert for the case. We aim to make the
instruction process as easy as possible for solicitors,
with clear lines of communication and up-front reasonable and proportionate fee estimates. Furthermore, we can provide detailed fee guidance and
monitoring as required.

works predominantly on complex multi-track cases.

All S&A expert witnesses are fully trained in and
cognisant of the Civil Procedure Rules (and other
relevant rules/jurisdictions). Our experts participate
regularly in Continuing Professional Development as
both expert witnesses and clinicians. Relevant case
law/ judgments involving experts are reviewed carefully by senior experts with key findings and implications for practice relayed to experts in a timely
manner. All reports are quality assured before
submission to clients, thereby giving solicitors the
confidence that the instructions will have been fulfilled
and the reports submitted are of a high quality and
consistent standard.
