Department for Education guidance
RSHE guidance sets out government
position on gender
The Department for Education published
draft RSHE guidance in which it sought to
clarify its position on gender identity.
The draft guidance was published for
consultation (until 11 July) and will be
statutory once finalised.
If passed in its current form, this guidance,
and the related draft guidance on gender
questioning children, will have an impact

on all areas of school life, including
on educational visits. It remains
to be seen how the final guidance
will be written, and in what form
it will be implemented by the new
government.
EVOLVE Advice will keep a
watching brief on this area of
government policy, which we know
is particularly relevant to EVCs and
visit leaders taking children on
residential visits.
