VISIT 3: WHEELERS LANE TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE
FOOTBALL TOUR TO BARCELONA AND COSTA BRAVA
VISIT OBJECTIVES
IN A NUTSHELL
I wanted this tour to be a fun-filled,
action-packed tour experience for
pupils aged 12-14, some of whom had
never been abroad, on a plane or even
to a theme park.
▶ In just 4 days, we enjoyed a jam-packed, varied itinerary.
▶ The students played lots of sport including Futbol Salou, friendly
fixtures against a Spanish opposition, swimming, basketball and
volleyball.
▶ We loved visiting the theme park, Camp Nou and La Rambla.
▶ Great choice of locations – most destinations were easy to walk to.
Our objectives included: team building,
social bonding, trying new experiences
in Spain and personal challenges
related to the football coaching, theme
park rides and staying together in the
hotel and using facilities. I am keen
to develop pupils’ independence,
confidence and resilience.

WHAT’S THE VERDICT?
We had incredible feedback from school staff, pupils and parents.
The accommodation and sports facilities were very high quality,
and nothing was too much trouble for the tour operator, hotel, or
transport providers. It was a great, hassle-free trip and importantly,
it provided value for money for the parents and pupils.
The best overall experience in eight
overseas tours over 15 years
Wheelers Lane students learned valuable
travel skills including navigating an airport.
