POLICE
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Police Department is responsible for the
enforcement of State criminal and traffic laws
and City ordinances. The Department also
carries out criminal, fraud, narcotics, and
crime scene investigations and addresses
areas of community concern. Additionally,
the Department provides 24-hour communications services to receive and dispatch both
emergency (911) and non-emergency calls
for service from the general public as well as
other law enforcement agencies. The department provides certified school crossing guards
for the safety of children en route to school.
Police department maintains all reporting
requirements using local and State agency
databases and ensures the transfer of reports
to the State Attorney’s Office and the Courts.
The Department’s mission includes the pursuit
of excellence in providing professional, courteous, fair, and equitable law enforcement
services; ensuring crime prevention; and to
protect the rights of citizens, and visitors to the
City of Eustis.
DEPARTMENT GOALS & OBJECTIVES
The Police Department is accredited by the
Florida Commission on Law Enforcement. In
support of the City’s Strategic Plan Priorities and
Strategies Safe Community, the Department’s
goal is to increase visibility, positive interaction, and communication within the Community.
Both of these goals will provide support to the
City’s Strategic Plan Goal #3 which is to provide
quality, cost-effective public services, and will
ultimately increase safety and compliance with
the law in the City and also reduce costs associated with criminal activity.
