QUESTION
1
None at moment
Does the Ministry (/ another Government body / State level
body) have an online environmental data system which allows
proponents, consultants and other stakeholders to access
environmental data?
2
How many Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) does the
Ministry receive on an annual basis at present?
Are there other state level bodies that have their own EIA
requirements and receive separate EIS (In the Federal
systems in Canada and Australia it is relatively common for
a single project to trigger both Federal and State level EIA
requirements, as such, I want to better understand if this is
the case in Nigeria)
3
Has the Ministry begun a process receiving and storing
proponent EIS in digital format - for example storing a copy
of the EIS as a PDF on a computer, alongside a paper copy in
the newly appointed library that was set out in your June 1st
presentation?
A) Has the Ministry begun, or are there plans to begin,
scanning the documents in the new EIS library? - Also with the equipment available to the Ministry to conduct such
scanning, can you make an approximate estimate of how long
it would take to generate an electronic archive of the Ministries
paper copy library.
B) How feasible would it be for the Ministry to approach
proponents who have previously submitted EIS that is
stored in your paper copy library to request they submit a
PDF version of the same document? If the Ministry believes
this could be feasible, can you estimate how many proponents
you feel would be willing to send an additional electronic copy.
