The Teaching As Collective Leadership (TACL) framework was
developed by studying more than 3000 different transformational
classrooms around the world. TACL emphasizes a purpose of
education to develop students as leaders of a better future, for
themselves, and their communities.
1. TEACH FOR ALL AND TEACH FOR NIGERIA AND
AN APPROACH TO WHOLE CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Teach For All is a global network over 60 independent, locally led and
governed partner organizations and a global organization that works
to accelerate the progress of the network. Each network partner recruits
and develops promising future leaders to teach in their nations9 under-resourced schools and communities and, with this foundation, to
work with others, inside and outside of education, with a long term aim
of developing the collective leadership of fellows and alumni of the program to ensure all children are able to fuloll their potential.
Teach For All9s global network emphasizes the importance of a whole
child development approach to education in its global insights and
learning experiences for network partners, and supports local partner
organizations to experiment and adapt these insights by experimenting,
researching, and learning how to improve our ongoing training and support model. Teach For All9s global insights have led to the creation of the
new Teaching As Collective Leadership (TACL) framework, developed
through studying more than 3000 different transformational classrooms
around the world. TACL emphasizes that the purpose of education is to
develop students as leaders of a better future, for themselves, and their
communities. In addition to emphasizing student foundational skills,
the framework breaks with current paradigms of education designed to
achieve narrowly deoned academic goals for students, and an education
that is often dismissive of the critical importance of strong relationships
between students and teachers, student-centered learning, student agency, and community values and identities in education. The TACL framework offers actionable and locally customizable guidance for teachers,
teacher coaches, and program designers who are oriented towards developing student leadership. Teach For All developed the TACL framework
as an actionable and locally customizable framework for network partner
organizations like Teach For Nigeria.
