Charles is Director of Mortgages at UK
Finance, the trade body for the banking
and 昀椀nance industry, with over 100 mortgage lenders in its
membership.
Charles and his team are responsible for responding to
government and regulatory policy requests on behalf of
the UK’s mortgage lending industry. In addition to his role
at UK Finance, Charles is a Non-Executive of Stonebridge
Mortgage Solutions, and chairs its Risk Committee.
With over 25 years in the 昀椀nance industry, Charles’ career
encompasses all parts of the mortgage sector, including
as an Executive Director and Chief Risk o昀케cer at a top 10
building society, a director in the 昀椀nancial services practice
at Grant Thornton, and 11 years’ regulatory and compliance
experience at the FCA.
Esther Dijkstra is the Managing Director,
intermediaries, for Lloyds Banking Group.
Previously she was the Director of Strategic Partnerships for
LBG with responsibility for the National Account, Housing
Development and Intermediary Experience Teams as well as
leading mortgage intermediary digital strategy.
Prior to that she was the Head of Intermediary Protection
at Scottish Widows where she was instrumental in the
launch of ‘Scottish Widows Protect’ into the Intermediary
market, which went live in 2015. Esther began her career in
management consultancy with IBM in the Netherlands and
moved to the UK in 2000. She previously worked for Legal &
General where she was Commercial and Marketing Director
of the L&G Network and UK Mortgage Club. Esther lives with
her husband and two children in Guildford.
Whilst at the FCA, Charles, was Head of Department for the
mortgage sector, where he oversaw the implementation of
both the Mortgage Market Review and the Mortgage Credit
Directive.

Jeremy Duncombe
Head of National Accounts,

Managing Director, Accord Mortgages
Jeremy has been with Yorkshire Building
Society since March 2018, having been in the
mortgage market for over 25 years. He has worked in senior
management roles for several lenders and distributors and
has also worked as an adviser and a broker. Prior to joining
YBS he was Director of Legal & General Mortgage Club.
Jeremy is responsible for the external delivery and
development of the YBS & Accord Mortgages distribution
propositions, including the BDA, (T)BDM and Corporate
Account Manager teams for Accord and the Direct
Mortgage Team. He also represents YBS as spokesperson
for press and PR.
Jeremy is also chair of the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders
Association (IMLA), the trade association that represents
the views and interests of UK mortgage lenders involved
in the generation of mortgage business via professional
昀椀nancial intermediaries.
Nicola has over 15 years’ experience in
昀椀nancial services across a range of roles
spanning mortgages, protection and general insurance.
She joined Virgin Money in 2016 and is responsible
for the lender’s strategic partnerships with mortgage
intermediaries and, more recently, its relationships with
builders and Housing Associations.
She is an industry champion who is able to in昀氀uence the
strategic agenda, demonstrated by being recognised as an
Industry Change Maker and being awarded Elite Women
status in 2022. She also won the Best Head of National
Accounts award at the 2021 and 2022 British Mortgage
Awards.
In 2023, she has become a co-opted Director for IMLA and
continues her support for the Diversity and Inclusion agenda
through her work with DIFF / AMI / IMLA and being a cochair of the Virgin Money Vibrant Network.
