TIVERTON
Tiverton is a historic market town
situated within the beautiful Mid Devon
countryside on the banks of the River Exe.
Nuzzled in the heart of Devon, Crediton is
a vibrant market town with a rich history.
It’s close to both the bustling city of Exeter
and famous Dartmoor National Park.
The town’s pannier market hosts a
range of weekly markets where you can
pick up handmade arts and crafts or
fresh local produce from the food hall.
The surrounding countryside is home to
castles, forts and thatched villages, all
ideal for exploring during your trip.
The town is known for its fantastic
Farmers Market running on the first and
third Saturday of the month where all the
stallholders grow or make the produce
they sell themselves. Crediton is also
home to a magnificent sandstone church,
the Church of the Holy Cross which stands
on the site of a former Saxon Cathedral.
The area’s history can be discovered
throughout the town by following
the Crediton History Trail or at the
town museum.

Crediton Town
Crediton is a stop on the Tarka Line Railway,
which runs from Exeter to Barnstaple
through the scenic Mid Devon countryside.
Discover the history of Tiverton at the
museum or head to the Grand Western
Canal. The canal and neighbouring nature
reserve meander for 11¼ miles
from Tiverton to the hamlet of Lowdwells.
It’s the perfect place to enjoy cycling
or walking; whilst you amble along the
scenic pathway, make sure you keep your
eyes peeled for a horse drawn barge.
