Exmouth is a seaside resort ideal for
visitors of all ages and stands at the
mouth of the Exe Estuary, it also marks
one end of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. The town offers
a big indoor market as well as cafés,
restaurants, shops and an attractive
marina area. The waterfront location
of Exmouth makes it popular among
those interested in watersports such as
kitesurfing and kayaking, with the long
sandy beach perfect for relaxing days out.
Exmouth sits at one end of the Exe Estuary
Trail, a 16.4 mile cycle and walking trail
which links the town to Dawlish via Exeter,
passing through pretty waterside villages
en route. The area is a hotspot for wildlife,
Exmouth Local Nature Reserve is one of the
largest reserves in Devon and each autumn
welcomes thousands of migrating birds.
The town’s streets meander quietly down
to a two-mile pebble beach with hardy
swimmers braving the seas for a dip in the
beautiful clear water. To the east end of
the town sits the River Otter, a wonderful
and delightful walk which allows you to
take in some of the beautiful flowers and
wildlife which live in this wonderful estuary.
The Budleigh Salterton Lions host their
annual Gala Week in May, full of family
activities, as well as the annual Carnival
in September.
