South Devon boasts many towns perfect
for a coastal holiday. Some of the
region’s seaside resorts are packed
with traditional attractions ideal for
families, others with stylish eateries
and shops, but all offer a selection of
seasonal events to be enjoyed during
your stay. Our beautiful coastline can
be explored on foot, by bike, train, bus
or car, making it easily accessible from
any area.
Teignmouth Beach
From Exmouth to the Dorset border
lays part of the Jurassic Coast, a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here
you will find a wealth of history about
creatures that once roamed the earth
hidden within the rocks and there
are great beaches for fossil hunting.
Exmouth marks the start of the Jurassic
Coastline with its 5 metre Geoneedle at
Orcombe Point and leads through some
wonderful communities along the coast
such as Beer and Branscombe.
Start Bay
The most prominent feature of the
coast in the captivating region is the
South West Coast Path, providing a
continuous waymarked trail along the
entire length of the coastline. Walking
parts of the coast path is a great way
to explore the region’s breath-taking
shoreline as well as gaining access to
more secluded coves and beaches.
