Have the students look at the map.
Appreciation of language and culture:
NOTE: Ask the students what they see in the name. It’s made
up of two words that together make up the name of the
town.
"lake"and "view". Discuss each word and what the two
together might mean.
Explain that in the USA, names for small towns were often made up to represent what existed in
the area–in this case a good view of the lake.
Ask and say:
Look at the map and find the names of the different places in the vocabulary list .
What do you think each one is? (Have students guess what each one is or say if they
already know.)
What else do we see on this map? (street names, park, etc.)
What are the names of the streets? (River Street, Park Street, Forest Street, State
Street).
Appreciation of Culture: Explain that these are typical American street names .
Where can we find the… (library)? (Accept correct answers according to what was
asked.)

Vocabulary
Present the new words on the board. Either use the flashcards or write the words.
Ask:
What’s this?
On what street did we see it on the map?
Discuss what different activities can be done at the different places on the map.
Ask:
What can we do at the (library)? (Accept all logical answers.)
NOTE: Correct any English errors that may come up or provide any additional language
where necessary. For example, at the library we can read books, take books home, look
at magazines; at the cinema we can watch movies, etc.)
