Irma Thomas:
Good evening, listeners. I am Irma Thomas, the celebrity reporter for the London
Star Newspaper. I am speaking to you, of course, from the fifth floor ballroom of
the Sparkov Palace in London, where a grand party is just beginning.
Oh, listeners, the view is just lovely! London at night, the lights, and the river.
Ah, but even more lovely are the young ladies and gentlemen who are tonight’s
special guests. The young ladies are wearing long party dresses, and the young
gentlemen look very handsome in suits… What a night!
Excuse me, young lady. You look very lovely tonight. What is your name?
Kate:
My name is Kate Miller.
Irma Thomas: And who is this handsome fellow?
Kate:
This is my brother, Tom Miller.
Irma Thomas: And may I ask you, please, how you and your brother know His Highness?
Kate:
Er…um. Actually…we don’t. But he invited us to this party, so here we are!
(Trumpet fanfare. Flashbulbs popping, increased hubbub. )
Irma Thomas: One moment… Let me see… Oh….! I believe they're here….. YES! It’s His Highness
King Sparkov and his son, Prince Robert… There’s Miss Lee, the famous pilot. You
will remember that only last week she flew around the world in 23 hours…
Tom:
What?? King Sparkov? But that’s… That’s Professor Sparky!
Kate:
And that’s Robert! Wow! I can’t believe it!
Tom:
Look! There’s Mike, too! Why didn’t ….
Irma Thomas: Shhh. The king is about to speak!
King Sparkov:
My dear family and friends… Thank you all for coming. And welcome to my special
guests, the ten boys and girls who flew a very long way to be with us tonight.
Please, sit down.
Boys and girls, it is a great honor to have you here. Each one of you is special. All of
you help your community and your country. My son Robert and I know each one of
you. We know about all the amazing things that you do to help others. I travel
around the world looking for young people like you. That is why you are here today;
five boys and five girls from all over the world. I have a job for you. You will become
my Special Eyes – SpEYES. We have many new friends to make. We have many
mysteries to solve. We have much to learn! And together we will make our world a
better place!
(Applause and cheering).
