5. She cut a hole in the window and got into the museum at night. Then she took the pictures out of
their frames and stole them.
When they have finished it's important to write all the answers on the board to ensure all the
students have the correct version in their Detective's Notebook.
9. Time for a Joke (page 116)
Curriculum:
ALC: Students will be familiar with
age-appropriate literary texts (song).
Say and ask: Read the joke. Make sure that the kids
understand the joke.
Some jokes are funny, others surprise you. Explain
that the kids in the joke don't understand that this is modern art and not dirt on the
canvas.
Appreciation of culture and language
NOTE: Understanding a joke in a second language is always more difficult as they are often a play
on words. In this case, the joke is based on what they’ve learned in the unit on art, so they could
discuss what is funny about this joke and why the boy says what he says.
