information tools such as a glossary,
a simplified learner’s dictionary, and
a table of contents
Present the new words on the
board. Either use the flashcards or
write the words. Present each word
and use it in a sentence. Then ask the
students if they know what the word
means. Allow guessing and finally
give the right explanation.
Vocabulary reinforcement
Have the students go over the text and find the words
they just learned. Ask them to read the sentences where
they found the words. If there are still unclear words,
explain them. Have the students copy the words into their notebooks and write their definitions.
For weaker students: Have them copy the sentence with the new word into their notebooks, next
to the definition they wrote. This will help them remember the context as well.
For more ideas, go to pages vi and vii if the Yellow Pages section.

What is (Ad 1) about? (Popflakes)
How does the ad make you feel? (Accept all logical answers.)
Would you buy this product? (Accept all logical answers.)
Is this a product that you need or want? Explain. (Accept answers that come with an
explanation.)
Let’s look at the last ad.
It shows just the logo of the product.
Is this also an ad? What do you think? (Encourage the students to express their ideas.)
