Name Cards Activity
If there are students whose names begin with the letter ‘M’ follow instructions for the
Name Cards Activity in Lesson 8, on page 21.
Big ‘M’
• Draw a big ‘M’ on the board.
• Ask students what shapes it has. (four lines)
• Ask what letter it looks like. (an upside down ‘W’)
• Hold up the big ‘M’ card. Ask what letter it is. (‘M’)
• Now turn the card upside down. Again, ask what letter it is. (big ‘W’)
Letter Cards
Open the Workbook to pages 41 and 45.
• Have students carefully remove the ‘M’ and ‘m’ Letter Cards.
• Chant: The letter is ‘M’. The sound is /m/. The word is ‘camel’. The word is
'monkey'.
• Now Tell students to take out the ‘Hh’, ‘Nn’ and ‘Ww’ Letter Cards and to put
them on their tables with the big and small letters in pairs, i.e. ‘Nn’, ‘Hh’, ‘Mm’
and ‘Ww’.
• Say: Point to the letter ‘Nn’. Chant together: The letter is ‘N’. The sound is /n/.
The word is ‘no’. Do the appropriate action for the letter ‘N’.
• Repeat for the other letters.
• Call out: Big ‘N’. Students must raise the correct card.
• Call out: Small ‘n’. Students must raise the correct card.
• Continue with all of the Letter Cards.
ABC Poster, Mural and Song
• Have a student point to the letters ‘Mm’ on the poster and chant together: The
letter is ‘M’. The sound is /m/. The word is ‘camel’. Do the appropriate action.
