Open the Workbook to page 36.
Activity 1
• Have students take out their plasticine. Have them roll small logs to cover the
‘N's at the top of the page.
• Have students color the letters at the top of the page, following the direction of
the arrows.
Activity 2
• Draw a small ‘n’ on the Letter House poster.
• Ask students where small ‘n’ lives. (in the middle of the house)
• Draw a big ‘N’ on the Letter House poster.
• Tell students to draw the first line down, pick up their pencils and draw the second
line from the top of the first line down (diagonally) and continue the third line up.
• Ask where big ‘N’ lives. (on the top floor and in the middle of the house)
• Have students write a row of ‘Nn’s. As students write each letter, they can say
the sound /n/ and the word ‘no’.
Activity 3
• Point to the net.
• Ask what sound ‘net’ begins with. (/n/)
• Instruct students to listen to the sounds as you read the words and sounds below.
1. /n/ /n/ net
2. /h/ /h/ hop
3. /ĕ/ /ĕ/ elephant
4. /b/ /b/ bounce
5. /ă/ /ă/ apple

Now, read the sounds and words slowly again, and Have students number the
fish in the order they hear the letters.
Activity 4
• Look at the pictures.
• Ask what each picture shows. Say the word written below each picture. (nine,
nose, nest, net)
• Have students repeat the words after you.
• Have students trace over the ‘n’s.
• Now ask them, what other letters they know in these words.
• Have students trace the letters.
• Students can read all of the letters in the word ‘net’.
