Name Cards Activity
If there are students whose names begin with the letter ‘H’, follow instructions for Name
Cards Activity in Lesson 8, on page 21.
Big ‘H’
Draw a big ‘H’ on the board and Ask students what shapes it has. (three lines)
Letter Cards
• Open the Workbook to pages 41 and 43.
• Have students carefully remove the ‘H’ and ‘h’ Letter Cards.
• Chant: The letter is ‘H’. The sound is /h/. The word is ‘hop’.
• Ask: What is the same and what is different in the big ‘H’ and small ‘h’? (They are both
tall. Big ‘H’ only has straight lines. Small ‘h’ has a straight line and a hook.)
• Now tell them to take out the Letter Cards for ‘Bb’, ‘Ii’, and ‘Ee’.
• Tell them to put the Letter Cards on their tables with the big and small letters in pairs,
i.e. ‘Hh’, ‘Bb’, ‘Ii’, ‘Ee’ and match pairs of big and small letters.
• Say: Point to the letter ‘b’. Chant together with the class doing the appropriate actions:
The letter is ‘B’. The sound is /b/. The word is ‘ball’ (bounce the ball).
• Repeat for the other letters.
• Say: Raise the big ‘H’. Students must raise the correct card.
• Say: Raise the small ‘h’. Students must raise the correct card.
• Repeat for the other letters.
ABC Poster, Mural and Song
• Have a student point to the letters ‘Hh’ on the poster.
• Chant and Have students do the appropriate actions: The letter is ‘H’. The sound is
/h/. The word is ‘hop’.
• Hold up the mural piece for ‘Hh’.
• Ask students where they think the letters ‘Hh’ go. (after ‘Gg’, between ‘Gg’ and ‘Ii’,
before ‘Ii’)
• Hang up the mural piece.
• Sing the ABC Song (track 7). Do the actions for the letters they have learned.

Open the Workbook to page 35.
Activity 1
• Have students take out their plasticine. Have them roll small logs to cover the
‘H’s at the top of the page.
• Have students color the letters at the top of the page, following the direction of
the arrows.
