Activity 3
Read the title: Animals. Ask: What are animals?
Look at the pictures. Ask what each picture shows. (dinosaur, octopus, donkey, dog,
lion, cat, alligator, ant, duck)
Teach the words written below each picture. Say the number of the word and the word:
1. dinosaur, 2. octopus, 3. donkey, 4. dog, 5. lion, 6. cat, 7. alligator, 8. ant, 9. duck
Have students repeat the words after you.
Ask: Does number one begin with ‘d’ ? (yes). Circle the dinosaur.
Do the same with the other pictures of the animals. If an animal name does not begin
with ‘d’, students will NOT circle the animal.
Have students trace over all of the letters they know with a colored marker. (‘d’, ‘i’, ‘o’,
‘a’, ‘c’, ‘k’, ‘l’)
