Letter Cards
• Open the Workbook to pages 43 and 45.
• Have students carefully remove the ‘V’ and ‘v’ Letter Cards.
• Ask: What is the same and different about the ‘V’ and ‘v’? (They look the same but one
is big and one is small.)
• Have students put all the Letter Cards on their tables with the big and small letters in
pairs i.e. ‘L/l’, ‘I/i’, ‘V/v’.
• Ask students to point to the letter ‘L’ and chant together: The letter is ‘L’. The sound is
/l/. The word is ‘listen’. The word is ‘look’. Have students do the appropriate actions.
• Repeat the same procedure for the letters ‘I’ and ‘V’.
ABC Poster, Mural and Song
• Have a student point to the letters ‘L/l’, ‘I/i’ and ‘V/v’ on the poster.
• Tell students to chant: The letter is ___. The sound is / /. The word is_________.
• Tell students to do the appropriate action for each letter.
• Hold up the mural piece for ‘V/v’. Show students on the poster that ‘V’ is near the end
of the alphabet.
• Hang up the mural piece.
• Sing the ABC Song (track 7). Do the actions that go with the letters learned.
Workbook (page 14)
Open the Workbook to page14.
Activity 1
• Have students take out their plasticine. Have them roll small logs to cover the ‘V’s at
the top of the page.
• Have students color the letters at the top of the page, following the direction of the
arrows.
Activity 2
• Draw a small ‘v’ on the Letter House poster. Ask students where small ‘v’ lives? (in the
middle of the house)
• Draw a big ‘V’ on the Letter House poster. Ask students where big ‘V’ lives? (on the top
floor and in the middle of the house)
• Have students draw rows of ‘Vv’s. As they draw each letter students should say the
sound /v/.
Activity 3
• Draw students' attention to the pictures.
• Tell them to find and trace over the hidden letter ‘v’s in the pictures with a crayon.
Activity 4
• Look at the pictures and ask students what each picture shows.
• Say the word written below each picture (vet, violin, van) and have students repeat
the words after you.
