Objectives

Increase awareness of left and right.

Sing songs with students and do the actions.
• Feet on the Floor (track 1)
• Boys/Girls Stand Up (track 2)
Lesson Procedure
Left to Right (track 4)
• Ask students to raise their left hands. Check to be sure they do so correctly. If
you are facing the class, be sure to raise your RIGHT hand, as the actions must
mirror the students.
• Repeat for the right hand.
• Repeat for the left foot.
• Repeat for the right foot.
• Stretch your left hand out to the left. Say: Left. Stay in that position.
• Stretch your right hand out to the right. Say: Right. Stay in that position.
• As you say Go move your left hand across to clap your right hand.
• As you drop both hands into your lap, say: Down.
• After practicing the actions slowly, repeat the song in a rhythm.
• Repeat with students saying the song and doing the actions.

Workbook (page 5)

Sing Feet on the Floor with the class (track 1).
Tell students to open the Workbook to page 45 and carefully remove the picture of the
truck.
Tell students to place the truck on the left side of road #1 near the arrow and drive the
truck along the road, from left to right.
Repeat with the roads in activities 2, 3, and 4.
Have students trace the roads with their fingers, from left to right.
Sing The Pencil Song (track 3).
Tell students to draw along the roads with their pencils.
