Review all of the letters in alphabetical order.
Review the big and small letters.
Review the sounds each letter makes.
Lesson Procedure
ABC Poster and Song
• Sing the ABC Song (track 7) and do the actions for all of the letters.
• Have a student point to each letter on the poster as it is sung.
• Go through the ABC again. This time point to each letter and have the class
chant together: The letter is ____. The sound is /_/. The word is__________.
Letter Cards
• Divide students into pairs.
• Have them take out all of the Letter Cards and put them on their desks face up.
• Tell students to match the small letters to the big letters. (‘Aa’, ‘Bb’, etc.)
• Tell them to put the letters in the correct order of the ABC.
Game: What’s the Letter?
• Divide students into pairs.
• Have them mix up all of the Letter Cards and put them in a pile face down.
• Student # 1 picks a card.
• The student must chant: The letter is ___. The sound is /_/. The word is________.
• If correct, the student keeps the card. If not, the card goes to the bottom of the
pile.
• Now, student # 2 takes his/her turn.
• Students alternate turns until all of the Letter Cards have been used.
• The student with the most Letter Cards at the end wins.
ABC Line-Up
• Have students stand in a semi-circle around the room.
• The first student (the student closest to the left-hand side) says ‘a’ and writes the
small ‘a’.
• The second student says ‘b’ and writes the letter ‘b’ on the board.
• Continue until they have completed the alphabet. (If there are more than 26
students in the class, the remaining students begin the ABC again.
• Repeat with big letters.
• You can repeat the same activity with having each student write both the small
and the big letters on the board.
