Song
"I Am a Pizza" (song #2.27)
●
- Show pupils the pizza box. (If you don't have one, draw a pizza on the
board.) Ask pupils: What is this?
- Ask what pizza is made of. Elicit: cheese, bread. Teach the word tomatoes.
- Ask pupils: Do you like pizza? What do you like on your pizza?
- Review the vocabulary for various pizza toppings: olives, corn, peppers,
etc. Encourage pupils to share which kind of pizza they like, including
brand names.
Sing the song "I Am a Pizza" again, with pupils joining in to sing the repeated
line.
●
- Divide the class in half (groups, boys and girls) and sing the song in two parts.
- Have pupils use gestures (a big circle with hands) to show they are the pizza!
Game
●
Food Guessing Game (game #31)
- Think of a food item and give pupils hints to help them guess.
- Say: I am thinking of a food. It is long and yellow. Pupils ask: Is it a
banana? Do this several times and then have several pupils take turns
thinking of foods. Encourage the response: Yes it is, or No it isn't.
- You can do this as a competition by dividing the class into two groups. Each
group has to guess the other group's food. Correct guesses are awarded
1 point, and complete sentences are awarded two points.
