IV. Following a recipe: Making Fruit Salad
●
Make a picture recipe for fruit salad on the board:
- Stick the fruit flashcards on the board in the order they appear in the story:
1 apple, 2 pears, 3 plums, 4 strawberries, 5 oranges.
- Pupils sit in their groups, according to the letter sent home. Give each pupil
scrap paper and a plastic knife.
- Ask pupils to take out the fruit they brought from home.
- Go over the recipe on the board together.
- Ask each group to cut up the fruit and mix it together in the bowl. The fruit
should be cut on paper or paper towels, so desks stay clean.
- Walk around and help pupils to spoon the fruit salad into paper cups.
●
Invite the class to eat. As pupils eat, ask questions: Do you like the fruit
salad? Is it good? Is it sweet? What fruits are in your salad?
