- Collect the cards by calling out a letter. The pupil with that letter flashcard
holds up the card and gives it to you.

- Say the word pet. Pupils repeat pet.
- Put the letter flashcards p-e-t on the board. Say the word, emphasizing
every sound.
- Change the p letter card to the b card and say: Change the /p/ sound to
/b/. What do you hear? (bet)
- Change the b letter card to the s card and say: Change the /b/ sound to
/s/. What do you hear? (set)
- Change the s letter card to the v card and say: Change the /s/ sound to
/v/. What do you hear? (vet)
- Change the e letter card to the a card and say: Change the /e/ sound to
