6. Program Goals
• Giving pupils a positive first experience in learning English as a foreign language.
• Catering to learners’ individual learning styles and interests by providing a variety of
activities and varied techniques: singing, role-playing, storytelling, games, arts and
crafts, movement, etc.
• Providing a supportive and nurturing learning environment based on continuous
positive feedback and encouragement to enhance self-confidence and foster selfesteem.
• Teaching language by utilizing natural processes of communication for authentic
purposes.
• Incorporating activities which develop important cognitive and linguistic skills,
along with literacy skills that prepare the child for more advanced stages of reading
and writing.
• By the end of this program pupils will be:
- familiar with about 2000 words in English
- able to communicate in English using languge relevant to the basic topics they
have learned in the program
- able to read and comprehend short texts and stories in English
- able to read and write words, simple sentences and simple texts in English
- able to communicate using grammatical structures correctly
7. Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
21st-century pedagogy demands that EFL students are enabled and challenged to use
a variety of digital tools in their language learning. My First English Adventure is a
pioneering program in this respect, with two stand-alone cloud-based teaching and
learning assets, the EASmartClass platform and the Adventure City website.
EASmartClass is a cloud-based lesson management platform specifically developed
for My First English Adventure. EASmartClass corresponds one-to-one with My
First English Adventure’s printed and audio-visual materials, songs, listening tasks,
vocabulary and online activities – with the added value of smartboard-friendly
interactive lesson plans. The EASmartClass platform offers a wide range of audio-visual
content, tools and task types:
• on-screen Teacher’s Guides
• interactive Flashcards for vocabulary review
• interactive karoake audio-visual song player
• interactive storybooks with audio narration
• a wide range of listening tasks
• a wide range of interactive tasks
