- Practice the difference between the long and short /O/ sounds in words.
- Put picture flashcards on the table and ask pupils to categorize them as the
short /o/ sound like in Tom or the long /O/ sound like in Rose.
- Long /O/ sound: Joe, nose, rose, cone, stone, bone, note, hole, hose, home
- Short /o/ sound: Tom, socks, hot, shop, on, closet, copy, body, pot, not, Spot
- Add ‘o_e’ to the picture dictionary.
