Sight Words
- Put flashcards on the board for the words the and is. Review. Now add the
wordcards: hot, pot.
- Write: I am hot. Have pupils read the sentence.
- Ask different pupils: Are you hot? (Yes, I am hot. No, I am not hot.)
- Write: The pot is big. Sound out the words with pupils. Point to the pot and make
a big motion with your hands.
- Tell pupils you are cooking porridge in the pot. Stir the porridge with the wooden
spoon. Ask pupils: What did Goldilocks say about the porridge? Elicit: This
porridge is too hot. Say:The pot is hot.
- Write on the board: The pot is hot. Have pupils take turns stirring the pot with
the spoon while the class reads the sentence and says: The pot is hot.
Exaggerate - pretend you are touching the pot and it is hot.

your fingers to show each bag and use hand gestures to show a "full bag."
