- Open your mouth and say /o/. Have pupils do the same.
- Ask pupils if they can think of two animals in the story with the /o/ sound.
- Elicit: dog, frog.
- Show pupils the box and the pot. Stick the wordcards on the box and pot.
Say the words and have pupils repeat. Show pupils the letter O in the
middle of the word and how it makes the sound /ah/: Have pupils sound
out the words /p/o/t/, /b/o/x/.
- Show pupils the O flashcards.
- Chant: The letter is O, the sound is /o/ - pot.

- Draw the house and write the letters Oo in the house.
- As you write the letters, talk about what you are doing.
- Show pupils how the big O and small o look the same but are different sizes.
- Write the letter O in the air. Have pupils write the letter with a finger, in the
air and on their desks.
- Have pupils take turns forming the O shape with their mouths, hands and
fingers.
