- Ask pupils: What other words begin with the /h/ sound?
- Elicit: hair, head, hands, help, hot, happy, hard, hello, hi, house. When a
pupil says a word, give him/her the picture card to stick on the board, under
the letter H. Put wordcards under the pictures.
- Chant: The letter is H, the sound is /h/.
- Put the Hh cards on the board.

- Draw the house and write the letters Hh in the house.
- As you write the letters, talk about what you are doing. Show pupils how
the big H and the small h both go up to the roof.
- Now have pupils write the letter H with a finger, in the air and on their desks.
- Ask pupils, in pairs, to make the letter H or F with their bodies.
- The class guesses which letter each pair has made.
- When they guess correctly, pupils chant: The letter is ______ and the
sound is / /.
