Review what pupils already know about elephants from the pre-reading activity. Ask: What do you
know about elephants?

Read the text together with the pupils.

Teach the new vocabulary word "know" through the context of the question. Use L1 if needed to
explain the meaning.
Teach the new vocabulary words "other" and "(be) called (something)" through the context of
the text. Use L1 if needed to explain the meaning.
After reading, ask the pupils again what they know about elephants. Elicit what the pupils have
learned from reading the text. Ask pupils which facts in the text were new to them.

Use the tongue twister to practice reading for fluency. Have pupils read the tongue twister aloud 5
times fast. Have pupils practice pronouncing the words accurately and assess them for fluency skills.
