Listening Script Unit 1 Page 33 #3
My aunt lives on a farm. She looks after a lot of animals.
Every morning, she wakes up at 6 o'clock.
At 6:15, she gets milk from the cow.
At 6:30, she brings water to the horses.
At 7 o'clock, she brings food to the cat.
At 7:30, she takes the rabbits outside to eat the grass.
At 8 o'clock, she looks after the sheep.
At 8:45, she walks with her dog in the park near the river.
It is a lot of work to look after the animals on the farm!

Grammar
Focus on Form
Course Book page 34
•
Before teaching the grammar form, say the following sentences: There is a horse on the farm. There
are horses on the farm.
▪
▪
▪
•
Introduce there is& / there are&. Explain that there is& is used with singular nouns, and there are&
with plural.
▪
•
Ask pupils to identify which words in the sentences are not the same. (Elicit: there is/there are,
and horse/horses)
Use this opportunity to review how to recognize singular vs. plural nouns.
Tell pupils that they will learn how to use There is& / There are& in English (Use L1 if needed).
Remind pupils that sentences in English always start with a capital letter and end with a period.
Practice using the forms by talking about things in the classroom, e.g., chair(s), desk(s), book(s),
kid(s), teacher(s), door(s), window(s), etc. Point to an item (singular or plural) and help pupils create
sentences using there is& / there are& to describe them.
