MAGICAL Teacher's Guide - Book - Page 287
15. Picture This
• Choose a word from the reviewed words. Don9t tell the pupil the word you chose. Begin drawing
the word on the board. Have the pupils guess which word you are drawing.
• Have the pupil who guessed correctly come to the board to play the next round. Play several
rounds to practice the words.
• The activity can be done as a whole class or as a team/small group competition.
16. Guess What
• Choose a word from the reviewed words. Don9t tell the pupil the word you chose. Give a clue
about the word using vocabulary the pupils know.
• Have the pupils identify the correct word. For each incorrect guess, add another clue.
• Play a few rounds to practice different words. The teacher may choose a volunteer to lead.
17. Word Cloud
• Create and show a word cloud with the review words. Use a word cloud generator tool like
https://www.wordclouds.com/, or use the one provided.
• Divide the class into two teams and have the pupils line up in two rows.
• Say a word in the word cloud and have the first pupil in each row (one from each team) come to
the board and point to the word as quickly as possible. The faster team receives a point.
• Repeat to practice all the words and so all pupils have a chance to play.
• To make the game more challenging, give a clue rather than saying the word.
18. Find It!
• Show the words one at a time. For each word, have pupils scan the pages in their Course Books
for the word. When they find it, pupils should point to it in their books with one hand and raise
the other to indicate they9ve finished.
• When enough pupils have found the word, reveal where it appears in the Course Book and
repeat with the next word.
• More than one instance of some words is possible. Have stronger pupils count how many
instances of each word they see.
19. The Longest Sentence
• Have pupils work in small groups/pairs to write a sentence that uses as many review words as
they can (logically). Give an example to demonstrate.
• When they are finished, have groups/pairs share their sentence with the class. The group with
the sentence that uses the most reviewed words wins.
20. Word Search
• For each word, have pupils work with a partner or a small group to scan the story in their Course
Books for the words. Have pupils write down where they found each word (page and panel
number). Tell pupils that they can use the pictures in the story as clues to help them.
• More than one instance of some words is possible. Some words may appear in plural form.
