Choose a word from the reviewed words. Don't tell the pupils the word you chose. Begin drawing
the word on the board. Have the pupils guess which word you are drawing.
Have the pupil who guessed correctly come to the board to play the next round. Play several
rounds to practice the words.
The activity can be done as a whole class or as a team/small group competition.

Teach the new vocabulary using the word cards: imagine, popular, possible.

Tell pupils that some words in English have double 8ss9, which is pronounced as /s/. This could be in
the middle of a word or at the end, as in the words: possible, less.

Ask pupils which of these words is a new word they have just learned. Elicit: possible
Ask pupils what other words they know that have double 8ss9, or other double letters in English.

Writing Tip: Remind pupils that sentences should begin with a capital letter and end with a period.

Use the riddle to practice reading for fluency. Have pupils ask the riddle aloud to a friend and answer
the question together. Have pupils practice pronouncing the words in the question accurately and
assess them for fluency skills. Pupils can turn their books upside down to reveal the answer to the
riddle.
