Out of the Box

Have pupils follow the instructions to complete the Out of the Box project in the Workbook on page
230. This task can serve as an opportunity for interdisciplinary work, to be done in cooperation with
the art or geography teacher in the school.

Have pupils create a new country. Have pupils draw and write about their new country.
•
Have pupils share their countries with their groupmates or the class.

Have pupils follow the instructions to complete the performance-based task (PBT). Have pupils assess
their work by completing the performance task checklist on page 286 of the Workbook.

The pupils' work may then be displayed in an English corner in the classroom. Draw pupils' attention
to the board once it is complete and be sure to praise pupils for their work.
Use the Performance Task Rubric in Appendix III b to assess the pupils' work.
