Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit the full date and write it on the board: Today is (Sunday), (April 21).
Have pupils copy the date into their notebooks.

Go around the room and ask different pupils: Have you lived in another country? Do you know
anyone who lives in another country? Where do they live? Do you want to visit them?

Do the activity to review the vocabulary (show the word cards): airplane, airport, arrive, boat, bus,
call, car, city, country, driver, hotel, learn, leave, pack, stay, taxi, teach, town, train, visitor.

Review the vocabulary using the word cards before doing the activity.

Begin by putting two words on the board that will become the categories, e.g., ways to travel vs.
places.
Divide the class into two teams. Each team sends a pupil to the board to write one of the
vocabulary words under the category.
Teams receive points for each word placed under the correct category. You may choose to give
bonus points for correct spelling.
