MAGICAL Teacher's Guide - Book - Page 225
•
After listening to the text in task 4, have pupils read what Lily and her parents are saying. Have pupils
say what they think each character is doing on the tour of Alaska.
Look Online (ICT)
•
Have pupils plan their own vacations with the help of online AI tools, such as KidsChatGPT:
https://kidschatgpt.com/
▪
This online tool gives pupils the experience of working with innovative AI programs, with features
built for kids: short responses, graded language, audio feature for reading text aloud, no
inappropriate content, and the option for observation of activity by the teacher.
•
Remind pupils of the text they read in the Course Book on page 144 of the chatbot TravelBot, who
helped Anna plan a vacation.
•
Have pupils plan their own trips by asking the given questions and reading the responses. Give pupils
some time to use the AI tool on their own or with a partner.
▪
▪
▪
▪
Use the worksheet in Appendix V on page 356, or write questions on the board to help pupils use
the AI tool: 1. Where should I go on vacation? 2. I want to go to ___ . What can I see there? 3.
What can I eat there? 4. How can I get around?
Encourage more advanced pupils to ask their own questions.
Have pupils record some of the questions they asked as well as the responses they received to
create a plan for where they want to go, how they will travel there, what they want to see or do
there, what they want to eat there, etc. Pupils can print their chat conversation as a means of
doing this.
Then, have pupils share their vacation plans with the class. Have pupils use the vocabulary from
the unit to describe their trips.
Workbook pages 204-205
•
Have pupils complete the tasks. Review the instructions for each task before allowing pupils to work
on their own or with a partner/small group.
•
When pupils are finished, check answers.
Grammar
Focus on Form
Course Book page 160
•
Before teaching the grammar form, tell pupils that in English we have a few ways to talk about
possession.
▪
•
Tell pupils that they will learn two more ways to say that something belongs to someone. Ask pupils
to look at the sentences in the Course Book.
▪
•
Remind pupils of the uses of the verb to have (have/has) to talk about possession that they
learned in unit 3. Give the example: Anna has a cat.
Ask pupils to determine what they think 8s means in each sentence.
Introduce the Possessive 8s.
