Before reading, have pupils talk to a partner about what you might ask someone who works at these
places (a restaurant, a store, a library).

Before reading, ask pupils about the text type. Elicit that it is a dialogue. Have pupils determine who
the conversation is between (a theater worker and Nate).

Word Workout (suffix -er): Teach the new vocabulary word "worker" through the context of the
text. Have pupils determine the meaning of the word "worker." Use this as an opportunity to
review that "-er" at the end of a verb can sometimes change the meaning to "a person who does
the action." Give the examples: work/worker, dance/dancer, paint/painter.
Have pupils look at the text and make predictions about why Nate might be calling the theater
based on the picture and title.
Read the text together with the pupils.
