Before teaching the grammar form, ask pupils to look at the phrases in the Course Book.

Ask pupils to identify the nouns in the phrases (Elicit: ball, arm, trees, vegetables). Use this as an
opportunity to review what a noun is (person, place, or thing).
Ask pupils which of the nouns are singular and which are plural.
Tell pupils that they will learn how to say how many of something there is in English (Use L1 if
needed).
Introduce the determiners: a, an, many, some.
