Demonstrate the game by saying: I can bring (ice cream) to the picnic.
Ask a pupil: What can you bring? Have the pupil say what you can bring, then add another word
to the list: I can bring (ice cream) and (pizza) to the picnic.
Pupils can use the words on the board to help them or add another relevant word.
Continue until all pupils have added to the sentence.
Have pupils play in groups. The larger the group, the more difficult the game is.

Have pupils say at least three foods they think are healthy and three foods they think are not.

Elicit the foods from the pupils and write them on the board. Have pupils use the sentence
starters: (Water) is healthy. (Candy) is not healthy.
Then, ask pupils if they think there are foods that are sometimes healthy and sometimes not
healthy. Have pupils explain their answers and discuss eating in moderation.
Have pupils use the foods from the word box or add their own words to complete the task.

Before listening, have pupils use the new vocabulary to predict what snack Ben will make. Have pupils
predict if Ben will make a healthy or an unhealthy snack.

Have pupils listen to the dialogue and choose what Ben makes for a snack.

Dad: OK, Ben. What do you want to eat?
Ben: I want pizza! Can we go to the fast food restaurant?
Dad: Not today. Fast food is not good for your body. You should not eat it every day.

Dad: No, Ben. You should choose a healthy snack.
Ben: But sweet snacks are so good! I like candy!
Dad: I like sweet snacks, too.
But let's choose a sweet food that is healthy for you.

Ask pupils if they think Ben's fruit pizza is a healthy choice. Why or why not?

Have pupils invent a new snack. Have pupils create a name for their snack and draw a picture of it in
their notebooks. Have stronger pupils write the ingredients they need to make it.

Ask volunteers to share their snack inventions and decide if it is a healthy snack or not.
