Pullout Box – Do You Remember…
Read the pullout box with the students and do a few examples on the board.
If your class is very strong and you feel these exercises aren’t necessary, feel free to skip
them. However, if you feel your class would benefit from such practice, review it using
plenty of examples and then have them work on workbook pages 66-67, exercises 9 and 10
when they do their language practice in the workbook.
4. Language Focus!
Have/Has
This grammar topic is the use of the verb ‘to have’ in the
Present Simple form. Explain the meaning of ‘have’ as in
the possession of something, such as ‘I have a bag’ or ‘I
have brown eyes’.
AL: Students know how word
order, sound and writing systems
in English are organized and how
these elements compare with
their home language.
Have the students look at the picture and the sentence.
Ask:
• What does the boy have? (a red kite)
Read the chart with the students, explaining that ‘have’ is an irregular verb and when we
use it with the third person singular, i.e. he, she, it, the verb becomes ‘has’.
5. Let’s Practice!
