LFO Teacher's Guide - Book - Page 80
Say and ask:
• This is a picture of Pine Lake, where Albert lives.
• Albert is looking out of his window in the castle with a telescope.
• Look at the picture.
• What does Albert see?
• What do you see?
• What do you think is going to happen in this unit?
• How do you think the items in this picture are connected to this unit?
Pair Work: Have the students work in pairs to make a list of all the items they notice and
what they think is important in the picture.
Allow about two minutes for this activity.
If they don’t mention it, then make sure they notice the following: the airplane banner, the
park banner, the Pine Lake arch
Keep notes of their guesses, so they can be checked later on.
WKBK: Have the students turn to workbook page 52 and do exercises 1-2.

Part 2 – Who Is Outside?
HOTS: PREDICT
Section Title – Turn the students’ attention to the heading of the section. Ask them to try
explain why this section is called “Who Is Outside?” Remind them of their answers at the
end of the section to see how many of the students were correct.
Pullout Box – Words Around the World
Before you start working on the rap, have the students read the pullout box and discuss the
cognates that are mentioned there. Ask the students if they know any other cognates?
Pre-Reading
1. Let’s Rap!
Read the rap with the students line by line to make sure it’s clear.
Go to www.eadventure.co.il/LFO to play this text.
Discuss the rap by asking questions:
•
•
How can something be both far away and close by? (using a telescope)
