Transcript: page 37, exercise 5 – Let’s Listen and Answer!
(Scratchy intercom conversation.)
Albert (whispering): What do you think about calling our band Sparx?
Carla (whispering): Sparx is cool! How do you spell it?
Albert (whispering): S-P-A-R-X. Or we can spell it...oh, wait!
I think Dexter that Dexter is almost finished explaining everything.
Carla: Sh! I want to hear what he is saying!
(muffled, speaking his last lines on the other side of the wall): ...We push one button to talk,
and the another button to listen.
Albert (clearing throat, and then speaking in a normal tone): Hello, everyone! How are you?
This is Albert, and I’m with my cousin Carla.
Carla (also in a normal tone): Hi!
Albert: Thanks, Dexter, for explaining everything. Now, do you know where I am?
Carla (giggling): Hey Cousin Albert, I’m here, too!
Albert: Okay. Let’s ask them together. (in unison) Do you know where WE are?
Albert (to Carla): Come on, let’s get out of here!
(We hear a door sliding open, or a handle turn, or something that lets us know that we are
about to see them for the first time.)
