LFO Teacher's Guide - Book - Page 58
Review the sentences in the chart. Practice the formation of questions using all the
pronouns.
Point out to the students that there are two possible answers to a yes/no question, either
yes or no. Explain that in English we like to shorten our sentences, so we answer many times
using a short answer. We can either answer Yes, I am or No, I am not, without repeating the
entire sentence.
Of course, we can also say the whole sentence and it’s perfectly correct. Explain that to
make a negative sentence we have to add the negation word ‘not’ after the verb.
Read the examples from the chart and have the students repeat. Ask questions and have
different students decide if the answer is yes or no, according to the chart.
11. Let’s Practice!
Have the students do the exercise in their notebooks. They should write the correct
question and answer only.
Answers:
1. Is he in the castle? No, he is not in the castle.
2. Is she in the castle? No, she is not.
3. Are we in the castle? No, we are not in the castle.
4. Are they in the castle? Yes, they are.
WKBK: Have the students turn to workbook page 30 and do exercise there.
Vocabulary
Before going on to exercise 12, focus on the Vocabulary
Ruler on the page.
If you have access to the digital format, go to the
Vocabulizer online (www.eadventure.co.il/LFO/vocab) and
have the students work there. If not, teach the vocabulary
from the book.
AI: Students use information tools
such as a glossary, a simplified
learner’s dictionary, online
dictionary, table of contents,
guided search engines, simplified
E-books, YouTube videos.
Make sure the students are familiar with the words in the
Words I Know (big, live, year).
Read them and have the students explain/show you what the words mean. Do at least one
review activity. For ideas, go to page v, Teaching Vocabulary.
Teach the new vocabulary words from New Words (build, building, bridge). Reinforce these
new words via at least one or two activities.
For more ideas on how to work on vocabulary, go to page v, Teaching Vocabulary.
