LFO Teacher's Guide - Book - Page 54
Ask them to try to guess or determine where Albert lives (Pine Lake in a castle). Remind
them of their answers at the end of the section to see how many of the students were
correct.
Vocabulary
Before going on to exercise 1, focus on the Vocabulary
Ruler on page 21.
If you have access to the digital format, go to the
Vocabulizer online (www.eadventure.co.il/LFO/vocab) and
have the students work there. If not, teach the vocabulary
from the book.
Make sure the students are familiar with the words in the
Words I Know (books, computer, old, television).
AI: Students use information tools
such as a glossary, a simplified
learner’s dictionary, online
dictionary, table of contents,
guided search engines, simplified
E-books, YouTube videos.
Read them and have the students explain/show you what the words mean. Do at least one
review activity. For ideas, go to page v, Teaching Vocabulary.
Teach the new vocabulary words from New Words (card/s, castle, hard, look, map, news,
newspaper, parrot, poster, town). Reinforce these new words via at least one or two
activities.
For more ideas on how to work on vocabulary, go to page v, Teaching Vocabulary.
Pre-reading
1. Let’s Rap!
Go to www.eadventure.co.il/LFO to play this text.
Repeat the rap with the students and make sure everyone
understands what’s being asked.
Give them a few minutes to find the clues that are mentioned.
When the time is up, have the students share what they found.
AI: Students understand
the general meaning,
main ideas and the
sequence of events in a
text, and use this
knowledge as needed.
Possible answers: 1. a map of Pine Lake, 2. a newspaper, 3. a
television, 4. a map to the castle, 5. a card about an old castle, 6. a floor plan (of Albert’s
room)
While Reading
2. Let’s Read and Talk!
Have the students read the bubbles for each picture. Ask them what they see and what the
bubble says. Ask the students what they can learn about Albert from these pictures and
items.
