b. If it has more than one syllable, check where the stress is. If it’s on the last
syllable, then double the last consonant and add ‘ing’: begin – beginning
c. If the stress isn’t on the last syllable, then just add ‘ing’: open – opening
Have the student try to make sentences orally using the chart.

. Pair Work: Have the students discuss the pictures in pairs. Each
student has to describe what is happening using the Present
Progressive. They should be able to describe the action through the
help of the sentence. They can add more information if they like.
. When they are finished discussing the pictures, have the students
complete the sentences using and the Present Progressive of the
verbs in the word bank. They should write the answers in their
notebooks.
